Hello, I'm Francois Hofmeyr, an endurance coach, athlete and student based in South Africa.
My passion for endurance sports led me to spend much of 2022 immersed training indoors and conducting personal research on endurance training methodologies. This dedication paid off when I had the privilege of representing South Africa at the African Road Championships in Egypt, and World Road Championships in Wollongong, Australia. In 2024, I also managed to win the Western Cape Provincial Road Championships in the u23 category.
In 2023, I embarked on a six-month cycling gap-year across Europe. Alongside my racing endeavors, I continued learning, completing courses such as Science2Sport Coaching, some computer science courses and I am currently waiting to complete the UCI coaching course.
Whilst learning about endurance training, I am simultaneously learning more about coding, machine learning and data analysis methods to further improve my coaching by moninoting training and response. I have already created an app that calculates and syncs each individual athlete's Nutrition Targets (Calories and Macros) to the training platform, that automatically adapts to the planned training to improve performance and making sure that athletes fuel their training sufficiently.
Beyond my academic pursuits, I find it fulfilling when coaching athletes, helping them work towards and achieve their goals they set out and grow stronger. I try to teach the athletes instead of just giving a program to follow. It's a role that appreciate with my passion for cycling and sports in general.
